ABSTRACT: There are many types of measuring microscopes, depending on a variety of factors. However, in choosing one, they must be able to provide you precise measurements and clear images.

Microscopes are used in various medical facilities as well as in schools. They are purchased to study various organisms that may be helpful in various fields of study, such as in health. The choice of microscope will depend on the desired function of the equipment.  A compound microscope is ideal for looking at the internal structures of cells.  If measuring larger objects like solder joint of automotive boards then the choice should be a stereoscopic measuring microscope.  Each category has different levels of sophisticated technology to provide the best performance in different fields.  There are different types of measuring microscopes for purposes.

Different disciplines provide a variety of functions like ability to capture, display, and preserve specimen images.  It is not always a matter of viewing the sample through the objective focus.  The ability to provide precision measurement is a critical factor in the choice of measuring microscope.

Accurate Measuring

Electronic measuring tools are devices used to simplify the measuring process in more technical operations.  One such tool is the measuring microscope.  Measuring microscopes are ideal for use in carpentry, plumbing, electronics, construction, and laser technology.  Measuring microscopes are used to calculate surfaces and distances.  These have lower magnifying powers for brighter and sharper images and at the same time provide wide field viewing without distortions of the images.  There are different classifications of the measuring microscopes that respond to different uses.  Hence, they come in different configurations, and design.

These microscopes use metallurgical or stereoscopic microscopes.  These measure a target shape in several directions.  An approximate 50 mm to 20 mm can be measured – depending on the stage band and type.

Benchtop Measuring Microscope

There are least expensive models of measuring microscopes.  This type can give superior documentation and complies with some advanced techniques.  One model has a gateway multisensor coordinate measuring system, CNC positioning, and automatic image analysis.  Another Benchtop model has manual positioning.  The design is compact and ideal for school and small-scale industries.  For heavier workload, the Benchtop model with a heavy-duty granite base is available.  The heavy base will provide stability for the measuring of heavier materials.

Heavy Industries Precision Measuring

Another Benchtop model has an optimized video measuring microscope that has a built-in automatic image analysis and lead screws for manual positioning.  This has a measuring range of X=50 mm and Y=50 mm.  This is ideal for watch and watch making samples, electrical and   electronic connectors, stamped parts and small 2D and 3D components.

For precision engineering, automotive assembly, and mastering, electro-optic fabrication, plastics and mold fabrication, rubber goods, semiconductors and glass industries, a Benchtop model with a compact fixed-bridged multi-sensor gives a higher measuring performance.  The design allows for the integration of additional sensors.

For sheet metal industries, a more rigid and fast multisensor measuring microscope with a measuring range of X=0 to 400 mm and Y=200 mm and 250 mm is practical.  The equipment has a fixed bridge, moving table configuration sensor, low co-efficient thermal for expansion of linear measuring scales, durable linear drives with advanced thermal compensation, and high accuracy ball bearing guide ways are all inherent in the compact design.

Precise Measuring for Automotives

A moving bridge scope is recommended for larger scopes of measuring.  The duty table is fixed with a configuration multisensor, and ultra precise air bearing guide ways.  The low co-efficient thermal provides more time for scanning and displaying process.  The measuring range of X=650 to 800 mm, Y=750 to 2000 mm, Z=500 to 700 mm.  Since these are larger, these are applicable to large automotive powertrain components, heavy optical assemblies, and other large castings and forgings.

Measuring by Nanometers

Atoms and molecules are measured by the nanometers.  A nanometer is a billionth of a meter.  Standard measuring devices cannot measure this.  For accurate measurement of smaller items in precision technology, the automatic nanometer scale-measuring microscope is reliable.  This is has a super fast scanning digital image analysis microscopy system that has the ability to auto focus from distances of over 14 inches to the focus position.  This can be transported to, and used in remote field locations.  This is an indispensable tool in material science, tissue pathology, chemistry, failure analysis, biology, geology, forensics, and metallurgy.

Non-contact Measuring Microscopes

A non-contact measuring microscope makes full use of the video microprocessor, which has high-resolution color display.  This is practical in the effort to determine cross-hair measurement.  The video display will show all edges in sharp clarity with the manual or automatic single or multi-point video edge detection.

The types of measuring microscopes listed here are just a few of the hundreds of models available.  It is a matter of choosing the right microscope.
